Watch out Barbie! Sara is coming out!

Wednesday, 03-06-02

I can't help it but to recognize and congratulate the officials at the Iranian Ministry of Education for their latest make of the twin dolls, Sara and Dara. According to the ministry the dolls will be produced and exported to other countries in the near future.

What's the importance of the Iranian National Doll? The importance of the dolls lies of the fact that it is marketed for the purpose of introducing young Iranian kids to dolls that represent their culture and value. Unlike the Barbie doll, Sara and her twin brother Dara are on a mission to help others, and when the need rises, they consult their parents for guidance. That's the spirit behind the making of the modestly dressed twin dolls.

Once in Libya, due the overwhelming production and viewing of Italian animations, it has been said that, the Libyan kids thought they were Italians because of what they see on television. No doubt, TV and accessory items such as the Barbie doll are elements of western influence in a society that pays attention to its values. Does Barbie represent valueless society? I don't know! It all depends on whom you ask! Anyhow, The Iranian people are on the right direction for preserving their culture and being self sufficient. By the way, congratulation on the new making of the car (samand) as well.
